Spring Outing to Gullane No 3

On Friday 10th April twenty members of the SPGS enjoyed the Society's first outing of the year to play Gullane No 3 course. There was a good mix of familiar faces and new members, joined by the Society's Honorary President Gavin Hastings, who gave the golfers an inspiring talk before they headed to the first tee.
The course was bathed in spring sunshine with light winds which made the most of the glorious views out over the Firth of Forth. The course provided a good challenge with an interesting variety of holes, well protected by pot bunkers typical of the Scottish links.
Members showed their ability, taking advantage of the benign conditions with some excellent scoring and a great time was had by all. New member Stuart Aitken from Edinburgh topped the scoring of the Parkinson's golfers with 38 stableford points and Graham Kennedy from Paisley was the best of the supporter members with 34 points, his better inward half edging out Dawn Busby.
Thanks to members Paul Ford and Iain Kennedy who did the lion's share of the organisation of the event. New friends were made and our members are looking forward to the next event in Paisley in June.
